At T.J. McCartney, Inc. we enjoy the challenge of working on hospital and laboratory projects. Because these projects are extremely complex they require a large amount of coordination and attention to detail. Our most recent project, Massachusetts General Hospital, Building for the Third Century, is a 14 story building consisting of cutting edge Surgical Center, Center for Radiation Oncology and a five-floor Inpatient Pavilion for medical oncology, neurology and neurosurgery.

Our work on museum projects has given us the experience of working with world renowned architects. At The Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, we had the opportunity to work with Foster & Partners of London on The Art of the Americas wing. This four story addition consists of 53 new galleries, a state-of-the-art 150 seat auditorium and a new 130,000 square foot glass courtyard.

Many of the educational and institutional buildings that we have built required us to work in a functioning campus setting. The challenge here was to not infringe on their environment and be sure we were working as efficiently and as safely as possible. At Tufts Medical School we had the challenge of adding five floors to an existing ten story building in the heart of China-town while the building was still in full operation.

This area of work encompasses a wide range of projects from simple ACT ceilings to perforated metal ceilings and intricate hanging architectural mesh. Some examples are the work we did at The British Consulate in Boston where we installed ACT and a custom metal ceiling. At the Ashmont MBTA station in Boston, we installed decorative stainless mesh and perforated metal ceilings.
